You probably already know about Cargo's PlantLove lipstick. But in honor of Earth Day, I wanted to spotlight a cosmetic that is eco-friendly, and the PlantLove lipstick certainly fits that bill. First, the tube is made entirely out of corn - ok, give it up for that innovative move. Second, the box is made from paper embedded with wildflower seeds. Yup, you read that right. You plant the lipstick box in the ground, and you will get beautiful wildflowers! Love it!! Oh, and not unimportantly, the colors are gorgeous, too. I swear I spent an hour (or more) in Sephora (ok, that's not too hard to do) and I couldn't decide which color to buy. They were all so great. I kept browsing and then would come back to the PlantLove display to see if somehow a decision had been made for me, because as much as I wanted to, I just couldn't buy two lipsticks that day. Also, since some of the lipsticks are designed by celebrities, I had to factor that into my decision. I mean, I just couldn't bring myself to buy a lipstick by Maria Menounos - pretty, pretty girl but ever catch her on the Today Show? Ugh - like fingernails on a chalkboard. Anyway - Mariska Hargitay's color ended up the fave (Maria's shade wasn't "me" anyway).
Buying makeup and leaving a smaller carbon footprint - it's a beautiful thing! Happy Earth Day.
