The "Bzz" on Max Factor

NO, I didn't misspell Bzz -- that's how it's spelled according to BzzAgent.com , the leading word-of-mouth media network. What that means is BzzAgent is hired by companies who want to get the word out about their product or service and gets people like me (a "BzzAgent") to spread the word after receiving samples of said product. I recently received samples (actually, full-size products) of some items from the revamped Max Factor line. I was pretty darn excited -- in the past I've gotten air freshener and coupons for free yogurt from BzzAgent, which was cool -- I love free anything, but to get free makeup ?! AWESOME! This is what I received in my BzzKit: MAX Factor ColorGenius Blush, Volume Couture Mascara, a Blush Brush, and Lipfinity Lustres Lip Color. I have tried the first three items. I have not tried the lip color yet only because it's really not my shade (based on the color in the tube. Since it is supposed to last for up to 16 hours and I'm p

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler Rant - No Refill Pads For You!

Recently, I ran out of pads for my Shu Uemura eyelash curler . You know, the curler that it seems every makeup artist and beauty guru recommends. And for good reason - it gives great curl. So I went on a mission to obtain more curler pads, only to find out, you can't get replacement pads, other than the one refill pad that comes with the curler when you buy it. What I'm saying here is that in order to get new pads for your Shu Uemura curler, you have to BUY another Shu Uemura eyelash curler!! I was astounded! In fact, on the Sephora website , it states that you should replace the pas every three months (I'm down with that, they start to crack, and that's bad for your eyelashes), and you should replace the curler itself EVERY SIX MONTHS! Are you kidding me?! I have read numerous articles by makeup artists who say that they have had their beloved SU eyelash curler for years. So where do they get refill pads? And I can't believe that the SU is so shoddily made that it

Beauty on eBay

I love a beauty bargain (hence, all my Free Shipping posts), and as with other types of items, you can try to get a good deal on beauty products on good ol' eBay . Now, sometimes, you don't get such a good deal. I just thought this was interesting -- a few posts back, I wrote about a cool mascara sampler from Sephora called The Lash Stash . Looking on eBay under the search word "Sephora," I found someone auctioning off The Lash Stash set. On the Sephora website it retails for $28. This auction started at 99 cents, with very low shipping ($2.50), so I bid. The auction is ending today in a few hours and the bidding is up to $34.00!! Uh, if you go to Sephora, you can get it for $27 -- so not a good eBay bargain there! I'm guessing that these (over) bidders either 1) do not have a Sephora store near them, or 2) don't have a credit card and therefore, can't purchase from Sephora.com and need to use PayPal and have the purchase price taken from their bank accoun

You Don't Know Jacques! About Fingernails...

I hardly ever paint my fingernails. Especially dark colors. Toenails, on the other hand, ur, foot, yes. Love the pedicures. Dark, light, bright, pastel - don't care what shade. But I cannot be bothered with getting my nails painted. I try to keep them neat and filed, but it seems like such a waste of my time to sit and pay for someone else to paint my nails when they just chip the next day! ARGHHHH! It makes me angry just thinking about it. However...I was in ULTA the other day, and checked out their OPI display of new fall colors, and fingernails, look out! You are going to be painted in the near future, when the air turns cooler, and the leaves start to fall. I fell in love with OPI's nail color called You Don't Know Jacques! It is from their "La Collection de France" and this collection has many beautiful deep, rich colors perfect for fall, but You Don't Know Jacques! was my hands-down (ha-ha, get it?!) favorite. It is so different than any color I would n

Help!! I Hate my Computer!

Hi there! I have not been posting because my computer hates me back! I have lots of beauty news to report, but my computer has been acting up, making it very difficult, and very annoying, to create posts, especially if there are pictures involved. Sorry for the break in the blog, and I hope to be back up and blogging any day now!!!
